  1. What are the special features of Automatic Compression Testing Machinescompared to normal Compression Testing Machines supplied by AIMIL?
Automatic Compression Testing Machines has automatic control which includes the turning the pump on and off . controls the set pace rate and switching off the machine at pre-determined condition.

  2. What are the different applications of Pressuremeter?
One can obtain soil deformability characteristics and bearing capacity using Pressuremeter

  3. How does Nuclear Density Moisture Gauge work for fining out the Density?
A small, safety sealed CESIUM 137 Radioactive Source emits GAMMA radiation into the soil or other material to be measured. Radiation passing through the material is detected by a GEIGER-Mueller (GM) detector in the meter. If the measured material is of low density, a large amount of GAMMA radiation will pass through and the meter reading will be high for a unit period of time. If the measured material is of high density, the material acts like a radiation shield and absorbs much of the GAMMA radiation and the meter reading will be low for the same unit period of time. A suitable calibration curve permits use of the meter on material of unknown density.

  4. Does the gauge require re-calibration time and over again in the Laboratory?
No, it is a self calibrating gauge.

  5. How does Asphalt Content Gauge Works?
A To determine asphalt content, an Americium-241/Beryllium source emits neutron radiation into the sample pan mixture. The high energy neutrons lose energy by collision with low-energy, moderated neutrons are detected by the Helium-3 detectors. A sample of high asphalt content will give a high count and a sample of low asphalt content will give a low count for he same period of time. The gauge is calibrated by taking neutron counts on two or more prepared samples of known % AC.
